MODPORTRAIT 2021 - MUSEU EUROPEU D'ART MODERN
Exposition of the works awarded in ModPortrait, the modern international portrait competition called by the Artelibre Gallery in collaboration with the MEAM. Half a hundred artists from 20 countries have attended this edition of ModPortrait, the first international figurative painting event dedicated exclusively to portraiture and one of the most prominent contemporary figurative art. The award, which is called annually, is endowed with a prize of 6,000 euros and, with the aim of promoting and disseminating figurative contemporary art, also grants participation in two week-long workshops at the Barcelona Academy of Art (BAA) and two prizes of 1,000 euros for purchasing material. The painter Wim Heldens (Netherlands, 1954) has stood with the first prize with the work "Jajja" (.via), an oil on cloth of 45 x 45 cm. With the support of the Foundation of Arts and Artists and the MEAM of Barcelona (MEAM), the Saragoza virtual gallery Artelibre has gathered, around this contest, a number of international artists in the form of portraiture, where it is intended to enhance figuration and academicism, the fruit of great ideas and elaborate and conscientious work, attaching particular importance to realistic and hyperrealist art. Inauguration: Friday, July 1 at 19:30. MEAM, Barcelona.
